I was reading a book the other day and there was a story about a little girl who was dancing at a pizza place and she asked this lady in her 20’s to dance with her.
As they danced, the older girl noticed that people were pointing at the little girl laughing at her so she started mimicking the little girl's dance moves & doing her own craziesttt moves. As they were dancing, the little girl pulled the older girl aside & told her "you're my favorite person”.
What one thinks as 'crazy' or 'weird', another one might find to be the highlight of their day, week, month, year or even might stick with them for a lifetime.
This past halloween I went to a trunk or treat with my nephews and I dressed up like a shark because I wanted to make my nephew feel like he had a costume buddy and let me tell you, I had so much fun in that costume that night and I embraced the heck out of it.
That night I not only made my nephew’s night, I also had a little boy dressed as a shark come up to me and his mom asked to take a picture with me since I was the only other shark there. He had the biggest smile on his face and it filled my heart with so much joy.
What could’ve been an embarrassing little costume, ended up being the most memorable night with lots of smiles shared.
No matter how awkward it might feel to fully
embrace yourself, don't let that stop you from living your best life, from being your best self and from impacting someone.
There are people out there that need everything you have been gifted with. They need what you have to offer. All the messy, crazy & rawness.
What you might find you need to hide, someone is desperately longing to feel belonged and you just might be the missing piece of hope & inspiration for them.
Whatever you do, don't hold back your uniqueness. Shed your light with all your heart and don't look back.
There's nothing 'cool' about being the most put together person in the room. Be the life in the room.
I give you permission to not listen to society's standards of 'perfect. There's no fun in that.
