no one likes to inhale in recycled breath.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF & YOUR MASK WILL TAKE BETTER CARE OF YOU

This is where it all starts.

If you haven’t grabbed a reusable mask, do yourself and the planet a favor and do that now. I’ll wait…Now that you have that on its way, make sure to be prepared to wash it regularly (because sweat..ew) but do yourself and your body a favor by washing it with something you feel comfortable with your skin absorbing! Breaking out when wearing a mask can be frustrating but when we take a closer look, that could be a play in how well our bodies are. The breath going in your mask is likely to cause breakouts if it’s putting out toxins that were placed in or on your body. Your body is trying to tell you “hey, I’m not liking whatever your doing”, and that shouldn’t be ignored. Take the time to know exactly what is in the things you use on the daily and work to improve on it. Your body will thank you and you’ll definitely see that. Before we go blaming the mask and complaining about it, we gotta make sure that we are doing our part in making it as effective as possible. Use this as a reminder of how important it is to take care of your skin and your body inside out.

FULLY BREATH

...because well, it's kind of important.

Have you ever just forgot to breathe? Oh. Just me? Well, you know that feeling when your breath gets shallow and your chest gets tight? It can be difficult to remember to take in full breaths, especially if we have a lot of stressors going on..ahem..cue the entire year of 2020. If you workout, then you’ll know exactly how important it is to remember to breathe. Each inhale and each exhale helps you get to the next big movement, and avoid injuries. Same goes with everyday activities. When our breathing is all over the place, it takes a toll on our mental health and well, all the things because we are in survival mode. Use the mask as a nice reminder to slow down with your breathing. Deeper breaths in return, help calm thought processes, which I think we can all use more of. Read the next section for how to help get those fuller breaths in, in return feeling much calmer.

GET YOUR SENSES WORKIN

...and feel ALIVE

We all know the 5 senses, blah blah blah. Though, hear me out. Just like bad breath can be the most annoying thing, the smell of cinnamon from cinnamon rolls in the oven can be the best scent ever. The simplest thing: a change in scent, can be the best mood boost. I don’t know about you, but when I brush my teeth and have that minty taste and smell, I feel so refreshed. It’s like a reset that makes me feel like a changed woman. I’ve noticed the same thing when I add oils to my mask. I normally add them to my wrists or neck wherever I go, as a calming practice. Though, adding them to my mask, has been a game changer because I’m breathing them straight in. Of course, keep in mind that I only use oils that I trust and know the source of so I feel comfortable breathing them in all day. When I add these oils to my mask, I breathe in clearer and calmer and I'm much more focused and efficient with my workouts. The mask is going to be sitting there right over your mouth and nose doing its thing no matter what, so might as well give it a boost and yourself a boost with some good ole aromatherapy. I actually enjoy wearing mine everyday, when I use my oils and mask spray on it. I’d say I even look forward to it!

Remember what I said about what I trust to use on my mask?
Let’s face it, wearing a mask can be uncomfortable (especially in this heat), and no one wants to spend the cost of 2 or 3 meals on a cute one, in an effort to make it more fun to wear. Though we can still make it fun! We can make the most of this and feel better while doing so. I’ve got a source I trust—and they actually have what I mentioned I use in my mask sprays and that has been drastically improving my workouts. Grab your mask spray, breathe deeper, smile like a goof (even if no one can see it) and have a nice reset every time you put on the new fashion statement these days.
